Daniela Baena Salazar is deeply committed to addressing uncomfortable conversations, including public service, climate action, sustainable development, and equality. Her upbringing in Colombia’s countryside, marked by social and environmental challenges, inspired her to focus on creating positive change. 2019 Daniela founded Wom-en, an organization dedicated to promoting gender equality, quality education, and sustainability. Through Wom-en, she has impacted more than 2,000 people by training, connecting, and raising awareness among changemakers.
From this context, Wom-en was born out of Daniela’s drive to address the local pressing issues. Particularly, she aimed to promote gender equality and climate action. Recognizing the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and youth, she sought to create a platform that amplifies their voices in decision-making processes. For the past four years, Wom-en has operated through the dedication of volunteers, committed to public service and social cohesion. Her projects strive to empower women and youth as agents of change
By fostering equal leadership opportunities and knowledge development, Daniela seeks to equip vulnerable populations with the capacity to cope with climate change effects. In her own words, the Y&Y Fellowship experience has been transformative. Moreover, has provided her with the support and guidance needed to overcome frustrations and innovate within her project. She values the mentorship and community found in the program, which has helped her navigate challenges and continue her mission of creating equitable and sustainable environments.
