About the Social Business: RefEd exists to help close the gap of access to education between refugee and non-refugee children, ensuring that all displaced children have the opportunity to learn while they are on the move.
About the Y&Y Fellow: Yasmin Morais is originally from the Brazilian Amazonian region and grew up in southern Brazil. Since a very young age, Yasmin has realized the deep inequalities that characterize her country and has engaged in several initiatives to mitigate them.
Currently, she is an International Relations student, a social entrepreneur, a volunteer and an independently published poet.
She is the director of RefEd Initiative, an application designed to provide access to education to refugee children.
She is also a state co-coordinator at a Brazilian civic engagement movement, Movimento Acredito, and an ambassador at the Brazilian Student Association.
Yasmin is part of the international social entrepreneurship network Global Changemakers, and a Brazilian youth ambassador at the International Youth Committee. She has advocated for reduced inequalities, quality education and sustainable development in international conferences including the ECOSOC Youth Forum at the United Nations and the World Youth Forum in Belize City.
In the future, Yasmin wants to continue to drive change in her community and to use all her passions, values, experience and network to promote inclusive and sustainable development and socially vulnerable areas.
