About the Y&Y Fellow: Omar is an Entrepreneur and activist with experience in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. He kicked off his career when he founded PWEMA, a start-up that provides periodic web maintenance services. He then joined Pious Technologies as Executive assistant to CEO and took lead of the external relations and company representation in over 8 countries. On 2012, he co-founded Mobi-Trip, a mobile application development and software solutions and led product and business development as CEO. He held various positions with UNHCR and USAID and focused on projects oriented towards youth and women capacity development. He build a strong relationship with civic entities and associations, local and international. In 2014, he was recruited by Basmeh & Zeitooneh, a growing NGO in Lebanon, to launch the Northern branch of the organization. As Area & Operations Manager he manages projects in the areas of Relief, Education, Psycho-social and Livelihood. His latest initiative came to light in Jan 2015 when he co-founded SHIFT a social innovation hub to support individual, Nano-micro business and social impact initiatives in marginalized/conflict-zone areas. Omar is an activist with a focus on social entrepreneurship. He held the role of event Management coordinator for TEDxAzmiStreet for 2 yrs & co-lead many civic initiatives in his hometown Tripoli.
