About the Y&Y Fellow: Lindokuhle Duma has a zeal for human development and seeing young people reach their full potential. He got his first taste at being an entrepreneur by joining the 5 time winning National Championship and international student organization, Enactus UKZN, where he served as the Project Manager of Rocket Stoves. His passion for social entrepreneurship and human development together with his impressive work résumé led him to be offered a position as one of the 2015/2016 LED Champions in the Regional and Local Economic Development Initiative. When Lindokuhle got involved with Iziko Stoves, a social enterprise that develops and up-skills substance abusers at drug rehabs using innovative and environmentally friendly stoves, braai stands and entrepreneurship as the catalyst, Lindokuhle says he was deeply concerned by the amount of drug addicts on the streets and the amount of young people who were smoking up their futures, “South Africa cannot operate effectively when there a lot of social issues. We need to address the social challenges in order for the businesses, communities and government to operate effectively” His work with the Iziko Stoves has earned him success in the Ithala’s Inkunzi’sematholeni Youth in Business Competition and also the LifeCo Unltd Enterprisers – individuals who are driven by enterprise for impact. He says: “He realized that his passion is to change the lives of people and to create and shape a better and more sustainable society in an new and sustainable way."
