About the Social Business: Awis (Africa Water Innovative Solutions)’s goal is to eliminate the need for 40% of the population of Morocco to walk for hours to collect water, which is not even clean therefore causing diarrhea, dehydration and sometimes even leading to death. It brings reliable and responsible water purification system to those households that don’t have access to clean drinking water; in order to contribute to substantial health gains in populations. It is a simple customized filtration system, produced based on a mixture of local materials forming pores which have the right size to trap up to 99% of pathogens while allowing water to flow instantly. For more effective against viruses, a purifying solution is added on the pot, to react chemically with the water.
