About the Social Business: DataGénero is the first Data Observatory in our region. Their goal is to monitor data practices and to research gender biases in the data collection, analysis, prediction and communication processes, to help governmental, non-governmental organizations and companies to incorporate a gender perspective to these processes and to train the teams that work with the data. One of their main concerns is that missing data is a real issue in Latin America. They believe that it is not possible to create gender programs without understanding gender issues through data. That is why in DataGénero they want to create a school of gender data to teach courses for citizens, organizations and companies.
About the Y&Y Fellow: Ivana Feldfeber is a data activist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently based in Bariloche, Patagonia. Ivana holds two degrees in Education and Social Pedagogy, and she is completing a postgraduate diploma in Data Science, Machine Learning, and its Applications at the University of Córdoba, Argentina. She is the General Director of the gender data observatory DataGénero. Founded by Ivana with a group of scientists and activists from different disciplines and countries, DataGénero is the first observatory of its kind in the region to work at the intersection of gender bias, gender data, and feminism. Representing DataGénero, Ivana has hosted and attended numerous events concerning data in Latin America.
