About the Y&Y Fellow: Lizzie is the Founder & Creative Director of PHOEBE. Her passion for people and places has taken her to far-flung places around the world, including Africa, where she traveled to and from for the last several years while working in the non-profit world.
Working in Kenya, Lizzie witnessed firsthand how education and employment can break the cycle of poverty. But, she wanted to do more. In 2017, she launched PHOEBE - affectionately named after her Kenyan mentee - with the desire to bring meaning and purpose to fashion, and employment opportunities to artisans in Kenya.
Lizzie is a 2018 scholarship recipient and graduate of the Gem Institute of America (GIA)’s school of jewelry design.
