Founder at FASOSOLEIL | Burkina Faso
Fresh tomato production is notorious in Burkina Faso. It hits more than 15K tons/year. Yet, statistics estimate that importations of tomato paste reach 10K tons/year. This is due to the absence of processing plants to enable tomato paste production along with farmers’ struggle to sell tomatoes at a regional fair price. The result is post-harvest losses. FASOSPLEIL aims at processing the local fresh tomatoes into paste by buying tomatoes from smallholders at a fair price and fights against postharvest losses and limits imports of tomato paste.
