About the Social Business: Qube is a social enterprise whose mission is to change the world, one brick at a time. Qube is a team of four budding entrepreneurs, Abhishek Banerjee, Agnimitra Sengupta, Ankan Podder and Utsav Bhattacharyya. The company is currently developing construction bricks made out of plastic waste, thus addressing the issue of plastic waste disposal and also empowering the workers subjected to abysmal working condition in the traditional burnt-clay brick sector in India.
About the Y&Y Fellow: Fresh graduate from Jadavpur University with a background in construction engineering, Abishek is an innovator and environmentalist experienced in early-stage prototyping. He brings creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit to all business endeavors. Currently, he works as a consultant in a reputed multinational company in the construction industry.
He was featured in the Forbes 30 under 30 list of 2019, awarded the prestigious Yunus & Youth Fellowship and selected as one of the regional finalists for Young Champions of the Earth Award organised by UN Environment for my proposal to create eco-friendly bricks out of plastic waste.
