What is a social business?
As defined by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus, a social business is a non-loss, non-dividend company dedicated entirely to achieve a social goal.
How much time should I dedicate to the program each week?
Though it varies throughout the program, the course takes 5 hours per week on average, depending on your own speed, where your social business stands and the activity for that week. The time spent on the course will bring direct benefits to your social business. The activities you complete are aligned with the stages your business goes through to become sustainable and scalable.
What happens if I cannot follow through with my responsibilities?
We know all fellows go through different circumstances, time zones and personal challenges so we try to keep an open, trustworthy, flexible and honest communication so we can reach agreements and do our best to adapt to the circumstances. However, if the fellow does not comply with what has been asked for, meet deadlines and does not communicate proactively to find alternatives, we will remove him from the program and the Y&Y network. We won’t share the information with other partners, or save records to deny future opportunities unless the Fellow was taken out of the program for ethical/discipline reasons.
Can my partner take part in the program as well?
Yes, we enjoy getting to know the different people involved in your social business. Your partner can attend the webinars and have a direct contact with us as well. The only thing we ask is for a main contact to address our communication.
