Sobre el Negocio Social: Educase is a women-led social enterprise, where we’ve designed a school bag that folds into a desk for children studying in government and community schools who have little to no classroom furniture. They partner with organisations that fund education initiatives to buy the Educase and distribute it to students for free. Keeping the young audience in mind, Educase is lightweight, strong, durable, weather resistant and easy to use. Currently, they’re operating in Nepal, however, they aim to cater to children all around the world so that every student has a comfortable learning experience-one that motivates them to study and improves their overall access to education.
Sobre el Y&Y Fellow: Vedika is originally from Nepal however spent many years in India for her education and finally completed her Master’s degree in the UK studying innovation and entrepreneurship, where she met Neha and started the idea of Educase, first as a course project and then decided to carry it forward after graduating. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Vedika has always wanted to be an entrepreneur, but one that makes a positive impact through its work. So, when the opportunity came to take Educase forward, it was a no brainer. She has always believed that education has the power to solve all other problems in the world, therefore, through Educase, hopes to improve the access to education for children everywhere. Other than Educase, Vedika has always had a keen interest in problem solving through entrepreneurship and innovation therefore is constantly exploring new ideas to implement in Nepal that help the local communities. She’s also had experience working in public policy research with the Government of Nepal, and business development and marketing in private organizations.
