Sobre el Negocio Social: Boka feeds is a rural based initiative in Western Kenya. We help farmers increase and improve production of proteins in milk, meat, fish and eggs. Through supplying them with animal feed accompanied with free training from our experienced team members. We also provide market linkages of the extra proteins they produce to hotels, schools and supermarkets in our urban centers. We have impacted 8 youths and women directly. We are working with 1000 farmers. We look forward to impacting more farmers as we are going to scale up.
Sobre el Y&Y Fellow: Sarah Onchangu is the founder and CEO of Boka feeds. A manufacturing company which produces animal feeds. She finds honesty, creativity and dedication to be the most valuable qualities of success in running her company. She believes in helping smallholder farmers increase protein production in milk, meat, eggs and fish. In the 3 years since founding Boka feeds Sarah has led the company to an 18% lead in sales over its closest competitor. Sarah holds a degree in social work from the university of Kisii at Kenya. This profession has helped her in mobilizing women in the community and helping them solve the challenges they are facing. Sarah believes that community development is a way of fighting poverty and living life without hunger. Sarah hopes to continue using her determination and quick-thinking skills to turn Boka feeds into a Fortune food production company in both animal and human consumption.
