Sobre el Negocio Social: The Model City Council is a social venture that offers a unique platform for young Filipinos to create community-led solutions, such as social enterprises, SMEs, and advocacy campaigns with the support of their local government.
Sobre el Y&Y Fellow: Saje is the CEO and Founder of Siklab Pilipinas, Inc., a non-profit corporation he started during his years in university. He has worked extensively with different entities – both local and international – in pursuit of his main advocacy: youth development.
He started his career in development when he was 14, where he co-founded a free summer class for public speaking and essay writing for students in his province. In 2016, he developed his first award-winning social enterprise, The Model City Council, which aimed to work with civil society and government partners in creating a unique platform for young people to start social impact projects in their villages with the necessary mentorship, funding, and technical assistance. To date, he has worked with over 6,000 youth from numerous communities all over the Philippines, having launched 97 new projects, social enterprises, and advocacy campaigns just in its first year. In 2017, he worked with the Office of the Vice President of the Philippines in launching its flagship youth development program: Angat Buhay, that worked with organizations from marginalized communities in creating social impact projects in collaboration with various international entities. He is currently working on a national partnership with UNICEF and the National Youth Commission of the Philippines in developing a comprehensive set of modules for out-of-school youth that will impart basic knowledge on entrepreneurship, leadership, and workforce preparedness. He and his team are currently in the process of lobbying for the establishment of a UN Youth Delegate Program in the Philippines, with high hopes of seeing its implementation by 2019.
He is an experienced public speaker and advocate, having spoken at numerous local and international forums on sustainable development, youth leadership, and the value of private-public partnerships in achieving social change. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the Ateneo de Manila University.
