Sobre el Negocio Social: Rémora is a social and environmental business dedicated to the development of circular economy strategies for the health sector because they strongly believe that the answer to changing the way we do health today towards a healthier system lies in a circular economy model. They cannot be healthy people on an unhealthy planet. They began working in August 2020 with their first circular strategy, their project called Recicla-Rehabilita (Recycle-Rehabilitate) where the main objective is to develop technical devices for people with disabilities using recycled non-hazardous waste from healthcare centers as raw materials. This enables them to produce high quality products to achieve the same therapeutic objectives as any other technical device in the market, but at much more accessible prices for users and their families, while at the same time helping to reduce the environmental impact of the health sector.

Sobre el Y&Y Fellow: Rocío González, is 29 years old and lives in Puerto Varas, Chile, with her husband and their three cats. She loves nature and wildlife photography. She studied nursing and worked as a nurse for 4 years, always in pediatric intensive care units. However, though she loved her job and taking care of children, she never stopped wondering how she could have healthy people in such an unhealthy planet where the health sector was contributing so much to the climate crisis and biodiversity degradation. After 4 years of working and wondering, she decided to give up her job at the hospital and beg in to take action, funding Rémora. She is the founder and CEO of Rémora as well as a member of Chilean Society for Planetary Health and have expertise in Planetary Health and Circular Economy.
