Marta Michans

Nacionalidad: Spain
Nombre de la Organización: Asociación por la Innovación en Salud Mental y Educación
Región de Impacto: Southern Europe
Sobre el Negocio Social: AISME is focused on developing programs aimed at fostering human connection and providing mental health managing tools in the educational and health care system. It does this by using innovative facilitation methodologies and sensitive pedagogies when working with education; and by taking always science-based and rigorous sources when designing creative visual material for the mental health sector.
Sobre el Y&Y Fellow: Marta is from a rural village in the north of Spain, where life happens at another pace. As a child, she used to play by herself imagining she was in a war, and her role was that of protecting the children and providing them education while bombs exploded around us. Too many books? Yes. Truth is, after that, she has always been very connected to youth and education. During highschool, she cofounded a social project aimed at helping kids with ADHD communicate their emotions, named “Soy Como Edison”. On the last year of high school, after finding herself and her friends in unaccompanied decision of career-choosing, she founded Appasióname, connecting young students looking for their passion with professionals who already worked at that. Nowadays, this project is led by a local organization, and she is focused on the development of the Merakimú. She founded Merakimú to foster human connection, artivism and save mental health spaces to drive collaboration between people and organizations. This project is part of the organization AISME, that she co-runs together with her colleague Vanesa. They founded the project PerspectivaMente inside the same organization. PerspectivaMente is aimed at creating visual and creative material to the mental health sector, in order to improve the adhesion of patients with mental health diagnoses. As you can see, both projects, where they both participate brining our different abilities, have shared values. On another note, she is also now contributing to the creation of the social business Fem Llitera, born in my rural area, which aim is to re-equilibrate the population balance in our region. But, who is Marta, apart from the professional side? She is an introvert, meaning she loves being at home, surrounded by nature and by her closest family members and friends. She loves siesta and swimming. She is amazed at how stories shape our realities and she loves being an observant. But, don’t get it wrong, she toootally loves the cities, the movement and action. She loves when she have 5435209283 things to do and she completely trusts she can do them all (sometimes not). She loves long hugs and pure people. She loves the world she belong to, and she want to take care of it so desperately. She feels that by bringing connection, love, care, real stories… we will be able to shift our life patterns and take care of the Earth. You must know she is hopeful, always.
