Sobre el Y&Y Fellow: Ignacio likes building great projects with great people. He is the founder and Director of EPIX, a social business that strives for more socially cohesive and empathetic societies through the art of storytelling. EPIX has uncovered over 350 life stories from 53 nationalities through film, photography, exhibitions and testimonies. Most stories have depicted the realities beyond the crisis lived in Venezuela and the cultural challenges faced. Through EPIX, Ignacio has appeared over 40 times on TV, radio, magazines and press articles.
Last year, he cofounded Mingo Studio, a production house that connects producers, composers and musicians to collaborate and create music and audio projects. He is a social entrepreneur, filmmaker, photographer and engineer. Before starting EPIX and Mingo, he founded Fremu to connect remote communities through internet forums in Nepal, the Philippines and India with thousands of young social entrepreneurs around the world. Previously, he worked as a consultant in education and ICT projects in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
He has been a speaker and facilitator in conferences in Doha, London, Caracas, Dubai, Boston, Zurich, Madrid, Paris, Buenos Aires, Brno, Prague, Dresden, Baltimore and Rio de Janeiro, including opening speaker at the Education World Forum 2011 with the assistance of more than 50 education ministers and their delegations, sharing stage with other speakers such as Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO.
He has lived in 6 countries, worked in dozens and have a photography and filming portfolio of over 30 countries. Because of his work in Venezuela restoring empathy and fighting for social justice, he has been awarded Fellowships from the US Department of State, the International Youth Foundation, Qatar Foundation, Global Solutions Initiative and the Global Changemakers Network and his work as a social entrepreneur has been recognized by winning the ""Emerging Leaders"" award by the New Media Consortium co-hosted by MIT.
